Can soccer ultimately become as popular here as it is in the rest of the world or do you think the nba,mlb,nfl |
won't let it grow here? Soccer will become an ultimate sport here. It's already the most played sport in the world. And ever since the signing of David Beckham, international stars have been following his steps (e.g. Juan Pablo Angel - Aston Villa, Carlos Marinelli - Boca Juniors). The sport won't become as routy as it is in England over there but yeah the attendance will grow for each game just to see the international stars. soccer is growing but it will be a very long time before it will become popular. it won't be as popular as the NBA,MLB,or NFL but there is hope on it getting popular. Soccer has a great chance to pass some of the sports I know it will pass Hockey and it can also pass up Basketball and Baseball it will never go past Football but the other ones it could its kind of growing. Im mexican and i hate the MLS but usa is my 2nd favorite team. MLS is growing but they are doing it in the wrong way. They just buy players in europe just to get some attention around the world as for other countries they do it with there players in there country with skills and excitement. Soccer will get past hockey but it wouldnt get past basketball, or no where near the NFL. HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!! the usa national team is doing good cuz they always play at home against crappy teams. they need to play away. Also Usa is getting there *** whooped by there own sports. USA got there *** kicked against Mexico 8-0 in wolrd basball and they had A.Rod. They also got fucked up in basketball against Greece bad and they Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and CArmelo Anthony. Football (american) is growning in europe. I heard on espn that in the future Mexico will have a league and join the NFL but it may be rumors Soccer will never be as popular here as it is in other countries, at least not during our lifetimes. I think it has already surpassed hockey in popularity, but the important thing for soccer is that it be PERCEIVED as surpassing hockey (so that people will have more chances to watch soccer on TV and show whatever "establishment," *cough* ESPN *cough* that presides over this issue that soccer IS popular with high TV ratings). After hockey, which should be unanimously recognized as this country's 5th sport within the next 20 years at the latest, baseball is the next most vulnerable sport, although they still have time to get their act together and get back on level with basketball and football, which will probably never be overtaken by soccer in this country. not when boxing is still the number one sports in mexico... |
