Why the US is better than Mexico...facts not opinion, you can't argue!? |
Men's National Team The Facts of a Rivalry: USA vs. Mexico Related Articles USA vs. Mexico: Last Time Out - Feb. 7, 2007 United States vs. Mexico: All-Time Series History U.S. MNT Post-Game Quotes vs. Mexico U.S. MNT Continues Decade of Dominance vs. Mexico with 2-0 Win in Glendale, Ariz. The USA is 7-0-1 in eight home games against Mexico this decade, outscoring their rival 13-0. Mexico has not scored a goal in the United States in 753 minutes (which is a span of nine games and eight consecutive shutouts). Since 1990, the U.S. is 11-7-7 in 25 games against Mexico, which includes a dominating 10-3-5 record in the United States (and a 1-0-1 record in neutral venues). Bruce Arena lost his first two games against Mexico back in 1999, including a 1-0 overtime thriller in Mexico City in the semifinals of the FIFA Confederations Cup. The two previous U.S. coaches (Bora Milutinovic in 1991 and Steve Sampson in 1995) each won their first games against Mexico, as did Bob Bradley with a 2-0 win on Feb. 7, 2007, in Glendale, Ariz. The USA won the first ever match between the two nations in 1934, a one-game World Cup qualifier in Italy to decide who would represent CONCACAF in the second World Cup. Mexico then won the next 10 matches in the series and went unbeaten in 24 games across 46 years. The USA鈥檚 current eight game unbeaten streak at home against Mexico ties the longest such streak in the history of the rivalry. From Oct. 3, 1976, to April 20, 1997, the United States went eight games without a loss against Mexico (4-0-4, 14 GF, 6 GA). I'll drink to that! @above user marc- you are a Moron. and i think the USA and Mexico are both great teams, and have lots of talent. but seeing as i was born in America i hope that our boys win today. It's just getting to the point that each country now wins in their own respective territory. It's too bad that there are not enough games played on neutral territory to decide who is better overall, however i will give credit to the USA for winning those two games on neutral ground (Copa America 95 on penalties and Korea/Japan 02 round of 16). So you can say technically, USA is better, but like everything else in this world, it is debatable till death. Also people that ask these questions always seem to forget to include Mexico's unbeaten streak at home against the USA. So until USA beats them in the Azteca (I'm sure itll be in the near future) Mexico is still better because of overall record and they have won AWAY and at home. Stats hardly ever matter in football, that's what makes it great. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day. yea the U.S. and Mexico are great soccer teams, but i go with U.S. and at Marc: your stupid. cuz theyre not i agree with marc yea but they are 7-0-1 IN THE USA why cant they be 7-0-1 in mexico every time they play in mexico most of the time its a tie or a win for mexico but since the team is usa they always have to play here in the usa |
