Mexico why were you hiding Nery? |
He was the best player on the pitch today by far. His experience at the European level especially for a team that is regularly in the group phase of the Champions league should have earned him a call up in 2006 right? Why wasn't he on your world cup squad? As much as I hate Mexico I really enjoyed watching Nery play. because castillo was born in mexico, his parents are from uruguay, and he has lived in greece long enough to become a citizen there was a huge "tug of war" by the 3 countries to try to convince him to play for their country, at one point he said that he does not wish to get involved with the international teams at the time being which was from 2004-2006 then hugo sanchez came along and finally convinced him to play for mexico which was a great thing because nery castillo played awesome today and i believe he basicly breaked everyones ankles on the us team at least once there was a big controversy about who he would play for. believe it or not, the greeks tried to bribe him into playing for their national team. ask lavolpe that You should ask Ricardo Lavolpe. first of all pepe only his father is uruguayan but his mom is mexican and he was born in mexico but he was raised in uruguay. the mexican federation did know him before and yes they did want to call him to the squad but the problem was he hasnt made the choice to play for either mexico or uruguay because he was half uruguayan. he then decided to play for mexico for the match against usa on february but he didnt play because of an "injury" right before the match. after that there was a rumor saying that he might become a greek citizen and then play for the greek squad cuz of a bribe from the coach but remember that was only a rumor. well now he played and he took the US defence pretty well. hes a great player aint he? oh btw when u said u hate mexico did u mean the team or the country in general . well for one lavolpe made that decision and second there was some contreversy for a while whether he was gonna play for Greece, Mexico, or Uruaguay thats why he didnt play in the World Cup do a little research, there was a huge controversy involving Nery. nobody knew if he even wanted to play for Mexico, and the Greek media started a rumor that he was waiting to become a Greek citizen to play for Greece. Mexico has had their eye on Nery since the time of Lavolpe, but for one reason or another he was never able to play. |
