Whats the best way to pull a wheelie on a 2006 R1? |
i have a 2006 r1 and i have a hard time getting the front wheel up. i used to have another bike where i would just punch the gas in first and it would come right up. this bike doesnt do that. any good tips on how to do this the right way, please explain? i think one guy answered this for me, but i was away on vacation, and he took his answer down before i could read it. It will do a power wheelie, with stock gearing, get it to cruise at about 35-40 mph in 1st gear. Twist the throttle hard and yank up on the bars. My 2002 R1 would pull right up. Check to see if the gearing is stock? If not it may have a speedo healer fitted as any change in gearing will knock the speedo out. This bike should come up on the power alone especially in first. If all else fails you can go up three teeth on the rear or drop a tooth or two on the front, this will shorten your gearing and make it come up on the power in first or second.....be careful in first though. As i said earlier it will knock your speedo out though. When you get a bit more comfortable you can use the clutch to aid wheelies but can be a bit much to soon.....the last thing you want to do is flip it. Also try getting up to about 4000rpm backing off the throttle for an instant and then punching it, but again be careful.
