What are the dirt bike numbers in motocross. and what are all the dirt bike numbers in freestyle.? the motocross numbers are earned from the previous years results, with exception. single digit numbers 2-9 are reserved for past series champions, and #1 is reserved for the present series champion. Numbers 10- 20 are also assigned permanetly. 21-999 are earned. Past series champions can chose any number they wish, and dont have to choose a single digit number. thats why Chad Reed wears 22, Pastrana wears 199, and so on. If a rider earns a higher number, they can choose to wear a lower number if they wish. like mike alessi, he finished 3rd in points last year, and choses to wear #800. there are diferences between the 250 and 450 class as well. the 250 class wears black numberplate backing with white numbers, and the 450 class wears white backing with black numbers. series champions use red backings with white numbers(450) or black numbers(250). in freestyle, there is no numbering system they are competing against each other, but not at the same time. there is no need for a numbering system in freestyle MX.
