Where can I take a class on learning how to ride motorcycles? |
I have NO experience on motorcycles but want to take a local class teaching me the basics of riding, safety, defensive driving, etc. I heard they have classes in Charlotte and Ashville but can't find the Greenville, SC class. I just finished a Basic Rider Safety Course for beginner motorcycle riders and I highly recommend it! I rode my motorcycle a full year before taking the class so I had some experience but I learned a LOT from the class on how to better handle my motorcycle. The class involves learning in a classroom and then learning on motorcycles that are supplied. The class I took was at my local community college and when passing the course, which also includes a road test, you will receive a completion card that will enable you to get your motorcycle endorsement/license. The plus about taking this motorcycle training class is that some insurance companies will give you a discount on your insurance for taking and passing the class!! : ) Source(s): Check this site out for where to find classes in your state! http://www.msf-usa.org/ Most Harley Davidson dealerships offer rider's courses. If there is not one near you, then simply contact your local bike dealerships and ask them who they would suggest. Even your local DOT can help. A riders course is a very very good idea. I'm not sure what you would learn in a riding class that you couldn't learn just going downtown to your local DMV and get your motorcycle license. The written test will give you all the ins-and-outs of handling a motorcycle properly. Its only $10-20 and you will have a license! I have no idea where in the USA but totally disagree with the last bloke, you HAVE to have a lesson first, in the UK you (Legally) have to do you Compulsory Basic Training before taking a bike on the road, its a great help in just learning the basics of riding and how to turn properly etc. |
