Dale Jr. #? |
What car / team / number will the future Hendricks driver settle with? I have heard rumors of Rick putting Casey in the #5 for next year, and Jr. going to the #25. Also, in the press conference a few weeks ago, a question came up asking if Hendricks would consider trading the #5 to DEI for the #8. Personally I dont think Teresa Earnhardt would go for that one. And also Jeff Gordon has been considering retirement within the next few years. Was Hendrick looking at Jr. as a replacement driver for when Gordon decides to call it quits? There is no set plan as of yet. There are a few different scenarios they are considering though. 1. Trade the #5 or #25 to DEI for the #8, because Dale Jr. would like to keep the #8 if possible. 2. Move Mears to the #5 and put Dale Jr. in the #25 with Budwiser as his sponsor. 3. Put Dale Jr. in the #5 with Kellogs and Budwiser as his sponsor. (it has been said CarQuest will stay with Kyle Busch, but Kellogs and Alan Gustafson will stay with Hendrick) We still do not know and won't for some time. I doubt they will get the 8 and the 5 has a lot of history at HMS. Rick isn't looking for Jr to replace Gordon, his shoes might never be filled by anyone. Jr is a great ADDITION to an already awesome team. Casey is probably the long term future of HMS, which made it easier to let Kyle go, but Jimmie and Jr should be around for a good 10 years or so. Have a GREAT day : ) I don't really know to be honest. I am a HUGE Dale Jr. fan and I think he needs to keep the #8. I heard that Dale Jr. is going to replace Casey, but in the case of Gordon he might be filling in for him too?! Still not sure about that. Based on some of the pleasant adjectives I've read about Teresa on here I think it wouldn't hurt her to trade the numbers. Seems like a show of goodwill could help her now. I think Junior will end up in the #5. The whole #25 thing came from Budweiser's former sponsorship of the #25 car. . It's all peanut gallery speculation and chatter until it's announced officially. I wouldn't worry about it until then. THIS year's season isn't quite half over, so there's allot of time to get all those details worked out. They'll let us know when they're ready to. Not a moment before. |
