What's it mean?

Lockyer said his side鈥檚 non-Sydney rival would do little to limit the Broncos crowd disadvantage.

i do not quite understand the sentense.

If a Sydney team was playing in the grand final, most of the crowd would probably support the Sydney team. Since Melbourne, the other side, is not from Sydney, the crowd turning up for them will not be as big.

Supposedly, not sure how true, a home crowd, screaming and yelling, gives inspiration to the home team, and allows them to win more games at home. As the two teams are not from Sydney, their will be no significant advantage to either team, thereby, a limit to the Broncos crowd disadvantage would occur [according to the media :-) ].

Since most people in Sydney do not like the Broncos, the crowd may/will still be against the Broncos, thereby, doing "... little to limit the Broncos crowd disadvantage."
apparently the broncos are not playing in their home stadium...or wherever they play
Sorry i don't know what he means either i think he was just so excited that his team kicked out the Bulldogs, but i wish the broncos good luck what a final it will be 2 Worthy teams
