Is American football soft compared to Australias Rugby League who play with no protective gear.?

yes it is soft
abc
most fowrds that play rugby are the same size as nfl player
i hear people say nfl players are bigger all the time they just look bigger because of all the sodding pading and helmets. the other thing is no one in the rest of world uses the imperial (standard to you yanks) system of measurement so ive done some conversions for you. 6'4" most rugby players are around 6' to 6'4 thats 180cm to 190cm
250lbs is about 117kgs you wont find many frowrds in rugby smaller than that.
and the thing about flying tackles
they dont do the flying tackle thing in rugby because if some one is in the air trying to tackle you its easy to step or stop change direction of your run and watch the guy go flying past you
it works in nfl because players will see someone dive for them and they will try to run through them instead of steping around them.
take the pads away i bet thay wouldnt tackle like that.
wear all those pads and the guy being tackled and the tackler
cant feel a thing....

take all the pads off a nfl player and put him up against a rugby player and i bet the nfl player turns and runs the other way when the rugby player trys to tackle him
Because of the gear it shows you how violent the sport of American football really is.

The style of play is different.

American football players are flying across the field - anyone on the field can be hit at any time. Players are usually hit by a flying tackle.

An American football player who is 6'4" 240 lbs and running very fast will do seriously damage when he runs full speed and hits you.

Rugby players are smaller than American football players and are generally the same size as each other. Plus they don't really tackle each other as much as grab and wrestled each other to the ground. Yes, sometimes rugby players deliver vicious hits on each other but not that much.

American football players have to wear helmets, by law, after 13 people died of injuries in the early 1900s.

Thinking that one sport is inferior to each other because of equipment shows a lack of appreciation for both sports.

No one could ever say American football players are wimps. The presence of pads and helmets are perfect examples of why the sport is so violent.

.
I've watched both sports. ABC hit the nail on the head. Rugby is definitely a rough sport, but the impact of the tackles is generally lighter. If American football players didn't wear the helmets and pads, most of them would not make it through the season. I'd say both sports are hard, contact sports... but in different ways.
Well some Australians play Rugby and I have no opinion on that sport.. but would like to comment that Australias national sport is in fact Australian Rules Football (aka "Aussie rules" or "AFL") and in Aussie rules they are running flat out and doo have flying tackles and so on (without padding) .... YES American Football is soft compared to Aussie Rules.
abc took some time to answer... if you swapped the players to the other sport, it would take them both time to adjust to the different styles, speeds, and physicality... they both have their ups, and downs...
I think American Footballers would struggle because they are only on the field for short bursts, whereas in Rugby League they might not cope with being on the field for 80 minutes.
no each have their advantages and disadvantages.

I however am with reg regan i want to see the biff brought back- nothing like a bit of a fight to show your passion for the game....
