What is an average mile for a 12 year old boy?
In the beggining of 7th grade (age 11) I ran a 11: 30 mile, and then in the beggining of 8th grade (age 12) I ran a 8:30 mile.
Is an 8:30 mile good for a 12 year old boy? (A mile is 4 times around a track)
I am now 13, so I don't want to get you guys worried.
When I was your age, in gym class we were expected to run a mile in under ten minutes. Keep up the good work.
The military physical training test for 18 year olds says that 6:30 is average whil 4:30 is best.
Whe I was 13 I ran a 6:30 mile but I was in long distance, basketball, and track which are nothing but running.
yea it is good you just have to get under 20 minutes if your talking about the physical at school when i was 12 i ran it in 5,6 minutes
thats awesome man...way to get into running, its a great sport...its about your own time...don't let others tell you how fast or slow you are, who cares what others think. cutting 3 minutes in a year is amazing...dont expect to keep cutting that much, but always work hard and get that time down as far as you can. By the way...8:30 is way above the national average.. thats an awesome time! try cross country..its an awesome sport, always compete against your own time, dont worry about others..you'll see awesome improvement and i can bet if you keep running you'll be sub 7 going into high school if you work at it...keep on keeping on man!
I'm a runner myself...i read on running and i run HS track and XC
Dude, I have the exact same problem.
I am 13 and I just got back from a 7:30 minute mile.
Your 8:30 mile isn't extremely hot but it isn't bad at all. It all depends on what your goal is, ex. distance/cross country, sprints/track. Or what If that was a distance run and you were doing like, 3 miles or something then that is a fine time.
Your good, keep up the hard work. The best way to train is through repetition workouts. Run shorts distances fast with a short break in between each, you will see amazing results. If you keep running I promise you will break 7 minutes even in no time, any other questions, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Good Luck running xc and track is by far the best choice to take for a sport. Keep running.
