Why is Sir David so slow to flash the cash even though he is one of the richest in the game. Your thoughts?

That statistic came from 4-4-2 magazine. Also, Brian Quinn (Celtic chairman) is throwing money away like it is going out of fashion. Celtic have a more successful youth academy than Rangers and maybe they are using that to fall back on if they waste all their money. But all this spending is going to catch up with Celtic. They are behaving like a mini-Leeds Utd a couple of years back and we all know what happened to them - from Champions League semi-finalists to League One fodder and now they could be extinct. Obviously Celtic's spending in not on the same scale as Leeds was but the Scottish League gets less more for TV rights than the English league and the same thing could happen. Maybe they got the money from the Champions League from last season but they cant have got that much money from reaching the last 16? In my opinion Rangers are in a healtier financial position for the long term but if Rangers won the SPL it would should everyone that money cant buy the title.

I have no doubt that David Murray is clearing the decks for selling the club and is not going to commit too much money.
He was Terrific for Rangers and If Celtic think they are spending big, then it is nothing to what Murray allowed Walter and Advocaat.
As for the Youth Accademy, Rangers have had it for about 6 years now and are starting to bear fruit now having won the Under 19 league and cup double and thrashed Celtic 5-0. I think Walter is relishing working with young Scots and wants to prove he can do it even if he had a large transfer budget. I often wondered and many Celtic fans too on why Dermott Desmond never spent his own money and i kept reading that he can't due to Stocks and Shares rules. I now think he is bailing them out and either he could have a few years ago or he's doing it indirectly so not to break rules.
As for Sky and the way money is distributed it really annoys me that as Scotland has many subscribers there is no money coming in to help out the clubs.
celtic are not a mini leeds,Dermot Desmond has more money than david murray.
by the way, rangers have just spent 2.5 million on that defender,so it seems to me they do have some money.
dont care anyway,Celtic will win league easy .
I really couldn't be bothered to read all that.
Murray doesn't splash the cash because he has had his fingers seriously burnt in the past in his pursuit of trying to buy the European cup/champions league.
Souness,Smith and Advocaat.
He's more careful now as in the past when Souness,Smith in his 1st spell, and Advocaat were managers,he was very generous in his spending, and never got the European success he craved. It's no surprise he's spending less now.
Murray does not have the heart for the game, that he used to have.

Not that you will here many complaints from Celtic fans, long may he continue to limit his spending, thereby limiting Rangers ability to win.

Go on Mr Murray, maintain your position, you know its the right thing to do.

ask the bookies who will win the SPL, clearly they know its going to be Celtic. Stick on a tenner and at the end of the season pass your profits on to Rangers, the biscuit tin will be out be then.
