What is the ball used for on the top right side in pool ?

The ball you are referring to is called the english ball.
You can adjust the spin you put on the cueball by moving the indicator from the center of the ball towards the edges.
On the break, you want to put full front spin on the cueball. To accomplish this, move the english indicator to the top of the ball.
If you would like to experiment, make a practice table and try different english positions on the same shot. One of the keys to the game is in setting up your cueball to give your next shot a good chance.With practice, you will be able to run the table, much to the frustration of your hapless opponent.

To put English on the cue ball.
its called english. u use it to help controlthe ball n put it where u want to. sometimes it can be difficult to learn how to use it.
