Battle of the sexes? |
Just as an example, say that you take the top 50 pro women players and the top 50 men and had a tournament with 100 players. How many women do you think would make it into the top 10? Please explain your answer. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee. I'd say the top 10 could be made up of anywhere from 8-10 men. Look at the IPT. Granted, the numbers weren't even, but the top women were getting knocked out pretty early. I'm not diligent enough to look for the highest place finish of a women at an IPT event. That takes care of 8-ball. I'm waiting for the USA or Europe to pick a female for the Mosconi Cup team. That would be interesting. I think 9-ball would be the game the female's could fare a bit better at. Most of the high runs I've seen have been higher for the men than the women. So I'd give straight pool to the guys. I can't say I know much about snooker or 3 cushion, but I can only recall Jeanette Lee being a good 3 cushion player. As for trick shots, there was a reason that there wasn't a women's event for ESPN last year. Or maybe there are a bunch of women that are actually really good but just don't want the spotlight, so they keep their accomplishments quiet. But I think the depth of talent in the men's game runs deeper than for the women's game. Anyways, I don't want to sound like I'm bashing women because there *are* a lot of good female players out there. But based on the things I can recall right now, there are no great arguments to back up a claim that there would be more than a few of them in the top 10 in anything. In what sport ? maybe 8 men and 2 women first u must look at that they are women a fit women acn never be stronger than a fit man and the man will defintly win the fight if but since here its PRO top women against just TOP men the men percentage must lower down that is my reasoning i played that game on the cruise i went on... it was fun... lol 5 women and 5 men. Then the winner"s" would be a man and a woman. It would be a tie!! Neither is above or below the other. While more and more women are joining the world of sports....it was men who were the pioneers for almost all sports dating as far back as you and I can imagine. Therefore, as strong a competitor a woman might be, I believe that out of the top 10 at the end of the tournament...there will probably be about 3 women and 7 men. Men are by nature physically stronger competetors and have the conquistador instict instilled since childbirth. I guess I am bias since I was on a snooker team and I am a girl. I do not think that your sex has anything to do with your ability to play pool or snooker. It's not like it is rugby!! I have seem some awesome female players and awesome male players. Which ever individuals have more talent will make the team. In My Opinion! |
