How much time at the table per week? |
On avge how much time do you spend at the table playing ,practice ,teaching whatever .My self 5-6 racks of practice every night after closing varies (greatly) on weekend Ever feel burned out?? I do It's usually anywhere from 10-20 hours on average. I get home from work around midnight and usually play for 1-2 hours. If I go out to a bar with a table, I'll usually play for a few hours as well. The way I avoid burnout, is to just stop playing if I'm not having fun. I don't want to spend negative time at the table. I don't want to create a negative association with the game. If I'm having fun and playing great, I may play for 6 hours or longer just to reinforce that good feeling. This goes for practice too. I always warn my students against trying to do something over and over until they get it right. That's a good way to burn out quickly. Let's say you have a troublesome shot. Pick a set number of times you're going to attempt it, like 5 or 10. If you don't make it once, just quit for the day. Try again tomorrow. Don't try it 100+ times until you get it. Maybe the next day, you'll make the shot once. Then in a week, maybe you'll make it 3/10 times. That's a good way to track improvement, and avoid frustration. Good question, Johnny. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.! hour or 2 the dinner table? how should i know whenever i eat and whenever i feel like it. pratice what at the table? I shoot everyday for at least 10 hours on my 9-foot Gandy pool table. I son't play very much anymore but back when I was on top of my game and hard to beat, I would play about 10-15 hours every week. Practice does make perfect when it comes to shooting pool. I dropped to nearly nothing for 7 yrs. Got the big D and decided to play again. I treated the new me to a new job and so began 8 hours play 5 days a week. K |
