Has there ever been a world-champion snooker player from the United States? |
I know there have been Canadians such as Werbeniuk and Thorburn, but I've can't say I'm familar with any Americans in that eschelon. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee. But I have no idea about whether there were Americans who played but just didn't get that far. Good question. And here's the US Snooker Association's MySpace page, where you could send them a message and ask them. I looked at the 2007 and 2006 World Championship players, not an American among them. But if anybody should know, it's the USSA, right? No one in the US knows what snooker is, thats why there are no champions. None. Dont recall any Straight a few good players but no champs that i know of Later Johnny And for our freind there Knowing and careing are very different things Harry Sims, a.k.a. Hollywood Fats, from St. Louis was three-time U.S. Champion, but never World Champion. That's as close as I can get. Good question. Do not really know much about snooker....although experienced with age and life...this is another game I have not played much.....have used this table to practice regular pool and only played snooker a little when younger....to tell you the truth....do not really know the rules....I an old as in age but really new to the game(since I got serious about it)......my first come back or thought on your question......could it be the "color of money" or should I say the pay out amounts at these tournaments that may have effected turn outs......we want to see the money!!!.....why are we seeing so many foreign players........especially with the women.....could it be $$$? |
