Read a question about most 9-Ball runs? It got me to thinking about who holds the record for most 8-ball runs? |
Doesn't matter what size table, event or location. What's your answer? Don't know what the record for consecutive 8-Ball runs is, but I saw Jeff Ayres run 6... and for the 7th game the '8' came out of the pack and died 1/8 inch from falling into the corner pocket where he broke from. This happened at the APA Nationals, 1989. Had that 8-ball fallen, he would have run out the set for match win. Believe it or not that was the only game he lost. His opponent ran out that game with the '8' sitting there ready to fall in at any time. That's how close it was to the edge. Jeff won the next game for a 7-1 match win. Source(s): The APA play their tournaments on 7-foot bar-boxes. Personally speaking I think it would be harder stringing racks on those then the 9-footers because less table room and more clusters. Lea ,Dre ,Eightbreaker -3 way tie Cant say off hand thats a pretty hard stat. but it must be somewhere. I have it between Mama & Me i looked it up, and found out that Don "the Cincinnati kid" Wills had a pretty extensive record..(and a long site :P)..who's had a high run of 281 balls..some ppl are saying it's Ralph Greenleaf, with 274 balls for High run in rotation..i saw one stating Mike Massey is the one..i don't know, i'm confused, myself..but below are the sites where you can find out and judge it yourself :) http://www.8ball.org/moecia_don_willis.h... http://www.insidepoolmag.com/billiard-to... I can't even find an official record for nine-ball runs, but Earl's 11 seems to be common knowledge along with Johnny's 14 and out...I e-mailed BCA about it, haven't heard back...as far as 8-ball, I haven't the foggiest notion. I'm not even sure how pro 8-ball tournaments are run (do they have them? are they race to 7? race to 5? certainly not 11?)...I've only seen bits and pieces of exhibition...It doesn't seem like an official record would go higher than maybe 7 in that case...You know what would be cool? A home-run-derby-type of an event for pool: break-and-run contests for 8-ball and 9-ball, plus straight-pool runs (can someone beat 526?). --Lea |
