Snowboarding Gear Question!!!? |
I've never snowboarded before, but would really like to try it some time. I'd only want to ride park/pipe and rails mostly. I'm a little unsure about the board specs though. Anyone know how to figure those out? Ok, as far as size board goes it depends mostly on your weight. If you want you could email me at my answers page with your weight. It depends a little on your height, but not a whole lot, so anybody who tells you it should be to your chin is not correct. Some proof of this is that new snowboards come with a suggested weight range, not height range. Just as soon as you email me I can give you a estimate for your board size. If your feet are any bigger than a size 11 in mens ,{sorry, I'm not quite sure how to translate that into women's} you're gonna need a wide board, but I don't know of any women with wide board, so you probably have nothing to worry about. As far as brands go, some great brands that make park boards are Burton, Fourm, GNU, Lib Tech, and my personal favorite, Rome. I'm not extremely knowledgeable in specific women's models, but I hear from women I know, that the Burton Feelgood is a good women's park board. Have an awesome time snowboarding, and I'll see you in the park. Source(s): 3 years snowboarding If you've never snowboarded before I would really recommend renting the first few times until you get a feel for it and are sure that you're going to stick with it. A good setup can run you $700-$800 easy and I wouldn't want to commit that kind of money before I was sure I was going to stick with it. If you are sure you are going to ride park and hit rails you probably want a twin tipped board that is going to have a lot of both longitudinal and torsional flex probably on the shorter side. You might want to go with a stiffer board that's going to give a bit more pop if you are going to ride pipe though. If you have never snow boarded before I don't think you will be doing any parks or pipes or rails for a while. Hire first, check you like it, then go to a shop when you have been on the slopes for a week or so and they will measure you and fix you up for some equipment. They are the best people to ask being they are fitting people everyday. 15 years of experience on the slopes |
