What does the W mean in snowboard sizes? |
Im new to snowboarding and randomly looking up boards and came across sizes (ie 157, 163 etc). Could anyone tell me what the w means in 163w? Im a big guy with size 12/13 feet, so does the w mean wide? as then this would be very good for me. thanks. The W stands for wide, but it looks like you already figured that out, so yes, they are better for people with big feet. If you have a size 12 or bigger, I can pretty much guarantee you'll need a wide board. If somebody who needs a wide board doesn't ride one, they will get really bad toe drag, which, in case you don't already know, is when your toes hanging off the edge of the board drag in the snow and screw you up. So go for a wide and have a sick time snowboarding Source(s): 3 years snowboarding yes, W means wide, good luck Yep, "W" means wide. more suitable for bigger people, like you! Snowboarding's awesome, have fun, and don't give up after the first time (it can be a little rough) :) |
