How long does it take a snowboarder to learn surfing? I snowboarded for almost seven years before I took up surfing, which was a downside because between the sports the only similar thing is your stance on the board, and even then in surfing weight on your feet means everything. I've now been surfing for 2 years and I'm still getting used to it. If you want to try it though, go for it, it's a great sport! Much more exhilarating than snowboarding. It doesn't take long if you snowboard, but how you surf will be impacted at first. Snowboards use rails and weighting to turn while surfboards start with the fin and then let the rails and weighting to determine the angle of wave attack. You will have the same problems most other beginners do, except that you will be able to control better once you are on your feet and have turned. Also, you will not be as comfortable surfing a longboard. One of the inventors of the snowboard was a good short board surfer from New Jersey, Chuck Barfoot. Someone else just asked about how long it takes to be a surfer. Here is the answer:YOU WILL NEVER BE A SURFER. You want to put a surfing on a scheldule, for it to be easy and convinient because you deserve it. I taught myself how to surf at 5 years old on a board i picked out of a dumpster. There was no entitlement there. STOP TRYING TO KILL MY LIFESTYLE. GO BACK TO THE SNOWBOARDING CLASS WHERE YOU CAME FROM! not long at all its the same thing but the water is a little harder. |
