Where is the best surf spot in the world? Why would you want to surf on a spot, try the ocean its so much bigger and you'll get a softer landing when you fall off. Probably teahupoo, pronounced cho - poo, in Tahiti. Seems to be the most challenging wave at this point. Taken over from Pipeline in Hawaii. But not for the average surfer. Maybe a small day. If you ask me, the best surf place in the world is where ever you are getting great waves that you are going to tell your mates about 20 years from now! Which can happen just about anywhere anytime, as long as your on it. Surfing the Australian coast for 12 years. This sort of question is very open to debate. What sort of wave would you like - Intense barrelling pits? Long Walling faces? A combination of both. The biggest avaiable? There are many that would qualify for many different reasons. For me the best wave is unknown nicely shaped of good size and without crowds. So if you can find that one then I'll be there on the best surf spot in the world.
