Noobie surfboard? |
hey im 16 and 5'9 about 160 pounds im gonna take up surfing over the summer and i want to buy my own board. What size of a board should i get? i want a board that's fairly versatile, easy to ride, not too much of a "beginners" board. (i've been surfing before). I longboard, bodyboard, and am fairly good at snowboarding im not a very big fan of softboards. a price range under 500 dollars would be nice :) I'll tell you what you need, bro. You need what is called a "Fun-board." Fun boards do everything that a regular shortboard does, only the width and thickness is a little more. Perfect for what you're asking. It will allow you to learn quickly because it's buoyancy is a lot higher than a regular shortboard. And most people won't even tell the difference. It'll look like you're just riding a regular shortboard. You should stick with something around the 6'-0" to 6'-5" range, you'll handle that nicely, being a longboarder. They won't burn a hole in your pocket. If you're really strapped, it's always smart to get a good used board to bang around a little. Look it up on google or something. There are a ton of different models and makes, just take your pic. Good luck! a longboard is great for beginners, but if you dont want too much of a beginner's board, then id go with a short board (maybe somewhere around your height) Try a 6'3' to 6'6" shortboard. |
