Is it true swimmers shave all their hair? Do they shave their pubic hairs? Do they wear a speedo alot? they shave everything, nasty if your a guy, hot if your a girl Not all swimmers shave but some that want to be as fast as possible do shave all their body hair and wear the Speedo type swimsuit because it is skin tight and more efficient to move in the water. Most do Most swim events are won by a fraction of a second. Some swimmwers feel that by shaving all the hair will make them more "slippery" in the water and remove the drag (resistance). Many people say that the resistance caused by the hair on the body is so miniscule that it wouldn't make a difference but the psychological edge is what makes the difference. The Speedos also are to reduce drag. Many swimmers will use Speedos during meets and certain practices. The other times they will wear suits that cause resistance called "drag suits". Currently, there are suits on the market that are actuall supposed to be slipperier than skin in the water. Speedo, TYR, Nike make these suits that look like wetsuits and range in style from "Jammers" (long shorts) to full body suits. it makes them more aerodimanic so yes they do Yes, they were speedos to move faster and the same goes for their hair THEY HAVE TO DO ALL POSSIBLE THINGS TO REDUCE THE FRICTION WITH WATER. FRICTION,FRACTION [OF SECOND] ARE THE KEYS IN SWIMMING. |
