What is the best swimming stroke for toning your abs?
What is the best swimming stroke for toning up your abdomen? I see all these men who swim with great bodies, but I want to know how they get that and what is the best way to do it too.
All strokes are good for your abs, but some pull on your abs more than others. Butterfly is great for abs, but most people can't do it. Backstroke is very good for your abs because it is your core stomach muscles that help lift your hips up (this in addition to relaxing your head and keeping it back) towards the top of the water. Note that swimmers have great abs because they have no fat too. Most people that excersize enough have abs that look good underneath their blubber, but its never seen because they haven't lost that yet.
the australian crawl is best
butterfly and dryland (which is sit ups)
Butterfly is probably the best stroke for toning abs mostly because of the continuous dolphin kick.
My swimming experience
Butterfly. If you do the butterfly correctly, the motion of your rising and falling hips closely resembles that of a crunch. But of course this is only if you are a stronger swimmer and have the right technique. But in general, any swimming will lead to a more toned body.
butterfly demands work(even if the technique is flawless), and it burns more calories than the other strokes
