How do you cure "swimmers ear"? |
At a one week corse of diving camp this summmer in pool water, I came home with swimmers ear. What is the way to cure it best? Swimmers ear is an infection and you need to see a doctor for antibiotics and itll be gone in a week. As far as getting water in your ear dont use peroxide because it can cause an air bubble to form under your eardrum causing you to go deaf. Rubbing alcohol is your best bet for this scenario. Water in you ear can cause pain that isnt swimmers ear. 1 way is to pour a cap full of peroxide in ear while you are laying on the opposite side of affected ear.pour in ear and let it sit several minutes. It will bubble alot. Then roll over and drain peroxide out onto towel.Take hair dryer and set it on lo.Hold it about 10 to 12 inches away from ear until you think the inside of your ear is dry.It has to be dry to help.I have also heard clove oil.But get 2nd opinion on that one. Me I use stuff called swimmers ear and it work really good definetly pour maybe a tsp. of peroxide in one ear while laying on the opposite side for like 10-20 minutes. it works! I get ear infections almost every month and some are due to swimmers ear. Prevent swimmers ear by buying swimmers ear drops ( sold at Walmart ). another option is vinegar and alcohol mixed. It prevents wonderfully. And if u have swimmers ear go to the doctor and get antibiotics. Also try to sleep on the hurting side so some junk might drain.. i know gross. Also heating pads work too. Lastly a sign of an outer ear infection ( normally caused by swimmers ear ) can be told if u tug on your earlobe and it hurts. I hope i have helped You can go to the doctor . I swim al the time and you just have to wait it out . Next time you can use swimmers ear after you get out of the pool. hope you get better i know it sucks |
