Whats the longest a person can hold their breath for? |
Whats the longest a person can hold their breath for? The current world record for holding breath under water, as of May 2006 was 8 minutes 58 seconds. The site I listed below tells you about someone trying to break the record and is aiming for nine minutes. It also says that free divers have held their breaths up to 15 minutes, but that was after breathing in pure oxygen. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magaz... According to our old traditional story,a swimming hero can hold his break for 2 hours ! Actually, I believe it is impossible for someone to actually "grasp" their air. Our hands have too much space even when close fisted to effectively "hold" our breath. Freedivers can hold their breath for up to about 8 minutes, but they train to lower their heart rates and enter into a state of hypoxia. Most average people can hold their breath for up to a minute. The world record for Static Apnea (lying face down, no movement) is 9mins 8sec for men and 7min 30sec for women. AIDA i saw someone swim a 50m underwater |
