Pool water turns green after vacuuming someone help please? |
whenever i notice green or algae in the pool i vacuum it out. an hour later the pool always turns green. do i need to have the filter at a certain setting when i vacuum or do i need the replace the sand in the filter, anybody know Sounds like you have a sand filter. If the debris you plan on vaccing up is finer than the filter media (sand) it has only one place to go. Back to your pool. Sand filters only filter out particles 40 microns and up. Algae is smaller than this and will eventually make it back to the pool. If you intend on sticking with the sand filter, then I suggest vaccing on waste or drain when you plan on vaccing your pool in an algae situation.. That by passes your filter and puts all the fine stuff out your backwash hose Just remember that doing so takes water out of your pool so don't forget to start filling before you vac and roll out that discharge hose. Source(s): former pool tech It sounds like a chemical problem, most algae will be killed off with proper chemicals in the water as far as I know. Vacuuming it up will stop some of it from growing but I don't think vacuuming is going to be a permanent solution here. Make sure your chemicals are up to date and add anything that needs to be. it should take longer than an hour for algae to grow enough for you to notice it unless your water is seriously under treated or your filter or sand hasn't been changed or cleaned in forever do not filter the vacuum into the sand filter it should be on the discharge flow |
