Help my pool is green.. is that normal...if not how can i treat it so it can turn crystal blue?

i have a birthday party so i need to do it fast in like 8 hrs...please help!!!

It's not normal. And you don't need algaecide.

You aren't going to get it completely cleared up before the party unfortunately.

If you have less than 10,000 gallons in the pool you can add in 1 gallon of household bleach. If you have more then add in 2. This will kill off the algae but filtration is the only thing that will remove the dead algae cells in the water.

In 8 hours the chlorine levels should be down low enough to swim in, but the pool is going to be murky and possibly irritating to the skin. Instant results is not something that can happen in any pool unfortunately. And depending on how bad the algae bloom is it could take up to three weeks to get the pool crystal cleared following a proper treatment. Someones peeing in your pool , Yelow and blue make green
You need to treat the pool with an algacide (keep algae from growing in your pool). 8 hours...not going to happen. You are going to have to drain the pool, clean it, and refill, this time with the proper chemicals to keep it clean and keep algae from growing.
I am not an expert, and I am not sure there is much you can do in 8 hours, BUT this MIGHT help:

(1) Turn on the filter, get the water circulating
(2) Test your chemicals, make sure your cholorine is at least 1ppm (you probably want 2ppm or for your purposes), and your acid is 7.5.
(3) If your chemicals are off, buy chlorine and/or acid (or a PH decreaser or increaser) at a pool supply story. Also buy some cholorine shock.
(4) Add necessary chemicals (with time in between cholorine and acid, and DO NOT MIX THESE CHEMICALS OUTSIDE OF THE POOL, CAN BE DEADLY)
(5) Shock the pool
(6) Brush the pool--should help remove all the allegae on the side.
(7) Manually vacuum the pool
(8) Check the chemicals a few hours later, to make sure your water is more balanced
(9) Net the pool for leaves, bugs, etc. before your party

If the pool is extremely green, and the above efforts do not help, or your chemicals are off-balance or too low, better to keep people out of the pool. You do not want people getting sick.
