Some glass has fallen into my pool, have can I get it out. Without taking all the water out.? No need to drain but if this is a vinyl pool you'll need to be careful. Large pieces that you can see easily can be netted out first. You can vac the remainder of this stuff out but you'll want to use a skimmer vac plate which you may have kicking around in your shed that came with the pool and you don't have a clue as to what it's for. It's disk shaped with a "spout" in the middle. It attaches to your vac hose and fits over your skimmer basket. You use it when you vac up debris that you don't want to go through your plumbing lines, like rocks, large twigs and yes, glass. This sort of stuff can get caught in a 90 degree elbow and gum up your lines. Using the vac plate deposits this stuff in your skimmer basket and no further. No chance of anything getting caught. Be careful during your vac, periodically checking the underside of the vac head for glass that's too large to go up the hose and it caught on the bottom of the head. You don't want to drag that around the bottom of a vinyl pool as you could slice it. Usually you can feel it go "thump" as it gets stuck. In that case, with gloves on, bring the vac head up close to the surface and try to peel it off the head. If the suction is too great lift the head out of the water for a moment . That will introduce a little air and make it pop off. Just try not to lose the prime on the pump by having the head out of the water for more than a moment. Source(s): former pool tech a vacuum, DO NOT ENTER THE POOL. that glass shards are probably floating through the water, so get a net too. A pool vacuum could help, but there is no way to grantee you got all the glass. Some might get trapped in the pool filter, the rest, you're taking chances. The only way to be safe is to drain, and clean the pool. i have a pool u dont need to drain the pool thats a waste of water and money just wait til to pool is calm and u will see the shade of the broken glass in the water and the vac the pool and it wont go in to the filter just becarefull ofr the glass and the person telling to to drain the pool is a idiot and must have money to waste i have had a glass break twice in the pool just vacume the pool like u always do and it will be fine hope this helps and god bless my buddy builds pools and sells them get a net |
