Why am I getting slower when I swim? |
I have been swimming for years. But for the past months I have a hard time to swim fast. the thing is that I have been biking everyday for a year and I am also running. I bike faster than before and I run at a normal pace but since I started to bike faster, I swim slower. It just does not make sense. Before I could do 2000m in 40 minutes (free style and back stroke 1000 +1000m) and now it takes me 50 minutes to do it!!!!! i cant say your getting "slower" but it could be that if you are doing your biking or running before you swim that could have an effect on your stroke. Another reasons is that you have your good and bad days. But, try to change up your swimming, instead of doing straight out 1000 free and 1000 back try doing 500 free 5x100 kick 50 , drill 100 , 50 swim resting 20-30 sec in between each 100. Do some back stroke here too! 10x50 Easy25, fast 25 Fast 25, east 25 All easy All fast Easy.. and repeat. 500 Back and free. something like that..im sure your body is getting use to swimming 2k swims, mixing things up will get you in shape and keep your body thinking. No ...then maybe don't swim with your bike anymore. you could be getting older over working and need to remeber to fit some rest days into your training schedule. your swim kick action is starting to resemble a cycle action It might be because you are wearing out your body or maybe not practicing your swimming all that much. |
