What to do to provent pool cramps.?

i swim i havent got a cramp yet but i know it hurts my freind had it and they tell me it hurts. if there is anything i can do to provent one plese tell me .

Wait 30min. after you eat before you swim... eat bananas... stretch... drink watter...
eat a banana
Before you go swimming, stretch your arms and back and legs really well, especially your calves and thighs.
-eat a banana
-take potassium supplements
-stay away from carbs at least 1.5 hours before swimming
Cramps are caused by a lack of oxygen or nutrients or both to the particular muscle. As your muscles contract and relax they require Sodium and Potassium to get the job done. When they are not present in the muscle in abundance, there is a chance the muscle will contract and be unable to relax, causing a cramp.

Fresh fruit and generally healthy foods are good sources of these minerals (aka electrolytes) and eating them regularly will keep the cramps away.

Also, remember to stretch after warming up and to rehydrate during the workout. You sweat a lot in the pool contrary to many people's beliefs. If you've been working out/sweating for at least 30 to 60 minutes it would be a good idea to drink a sports drink like Gatorade which can help replenish any lost Sodium, Potassium and Chlorine that may have left your body with your sweat. Hope this helps.

Eating potassium will help. Everyone talks about bananas, which is correct, but potatoes also have a high level of potassium. Stretching is important.
