What age should you learn how to swim? |
What age should you learn how to swim? the KNZB (dutch royal swimming asssociation) put a lot of effort into researching this. the optimum age acourding to them is 5 years old. it takes 5 year olds a total of 3 months less to qualify for their certificate A, than children that start at the age of 6. children that start at the age of 4 take 2 months longer than a 5 year old. please note that it is NEVER impossible for a person to swim. it just takes more devotion and effort the older you get. about 90% of all dutch children learn to swim round this age. Source(s): im a dutch swimming instructor. 1-15 years My dog, Boof. did you know that there are some cultures wherein women give birth underwater? surprisingly, the baby comes out swimming. doctors say that babies have the innate ability to swim given that they have been swimming inside their mommy's tummy. with that, i could say that a person can learn to swim at any age. however, just to be safe, i would say that age 4-5 would be a good age to start learning. You should definitely know before you go to the beach. I come from a family where we start lessons at the local high school pool at 3 months old. |
