Can a person get ringworms by swimming in the same pool as the infected person?

Can a person get ringworms by swimming in the same pool as the infected person?

If the pool is maintained properly with a good level of chlorine (3-5ppm) then no. If the pool isn't maintained properly and has low levels of chlorine or none then it's possible.

A properly maintained pool has chlorine levels appropriate to kill off almost all pathogens that can be transmitted through water. There are a few that are resistant but the case of anyone catching them is extremely rare. It's possible
ringworm is VERY contagious
Transmission
Ringworm is very common, especially among children, and may be spread by skin-to-skin contact, as well as via contact with contaminated items such as hairbrushes. Ringworm spreads readily, as those infected are contagious even before they show symptoms of the disease. Participants in contact sports such as wrestling have a risk of contracting the fungal infection through skin-to-skin contact.

Ringworm is very mildly contagious. Ringworm is also a common infection in domestic animals, especially cattle and cats. It can be caught from domestic animals (especially dogs and cats) as well as most farm animals. Humans can contract ringworm from animals; cats, cattle and dogs are common sources owing to close association with humans. Chickens may also be a source, due to the dirty conditions many poultry must live in that ringworm can thrive in. Ringworm can also be caught from other humans, both by direct contact and by prolonged contact with flakes of shed skin (from sharing clothes or from house dust, for instance). Wrestlers commonly spread it back and forth with their sweaty contact.

To catch ringworm, you have to be exposed to it and you have to be susceptible. Some people are much more susceptible than others. Those with eczema or other skin problems get ringworm more easily because the protective barrier of the skin's outer layer is less intact. Children are more susceptible before puberty. Boys get it more easily than girls. Some people are genetically predisposed, and can get it easily throughout life.
