What are the things that keep getting in our family pool? they are commonly called swimmers, but need the name.

the can fly they sting they are killed by algaeguard

My first thought would be water boatmen.

If you have any forms of living organisms in the water this means you aren't maintaining a high enough chlorine level. Pump the levels of free/total chlorine up to 3-5ppm and maintain them there. This level will deter any organisms from visiting and drive off any that are there now. You will also find your pool easier to maintain with this level of chlorine. Source(s): Registered CPO (Certified Pool Operator) with the National Swimming Pool Federation http://www.nspf.com/ and maintaining public access swimming pools for many years now.
Hi,

The advice above is half true...to a certain extent.

Chlorine will not kill them.

Those little boatmen swimming around your
pool feed off algae. You can still have them
in the pool with a relatively high chlorine level.

What you need to do is to shock the pool with
chlorine and once the chlorine lowers back to
2.5ppm add a copper based algaecide.

Once you kill the algae...they will have nothing
to eat and leave.

Hope this helps...
