Can't get egg beater move? |
in water polo, our coach is trying to teach us the egg beater. i understand what it is and how to do it, but i'm just having trouble doing it. any tips on how to do it? Yes. I used to have a lot of trouble getting coordinated with egg beater as well. May I suggest a couple of things to try. One is to actually spread your legs a little wider than before, bend the knees and do it very slowly actually watching each alternating foot circle. Another thing you can try is to not worry too much about your feet but think about your hips and sway them from one side to another like you are dancing salsa, then the leg rotation will occurr in sequence automatically. cheers Source(s): former lifeguard instructor. swimming addict yeah, i think i can help you out here I'll assume you know how to do breaststroke kicks. The eggbeater is essentially the same thing, except at alternating intervals for the legs rather than kicking them both simultaneously. Working from that point, I'd suggest by practicing treading water (or sitting in a chair) and using the breaststroke kick for a bit to get your legs used to the motion each of them will be making. Then keep your left leg motionless and just kick with your right leg in the same motion for a bit. Then kick with just your left leg keeping your right leg steady. This progression will break down the block in your mind that makes both legs kick together at the same time. Next, work on doing one kick at a time with each leg. Do one kick with your right leg. Then do one kick with your left leg. Gradually make the length of time between the two leg kicks shorter and shorter (but you can still take your time doing the kicks) until you are alternating right and left in a good rhythm. Also pretend like your sitting on a chair |
