Where is the best place to go swimming in broolyn?

Yesterday went to Manhattan Beach Park which supposedly is one of the nicest beaches in NYC according to a variety of publications. It's on the eastern end of Coney Island and was easy to get to...I took a single bus directly there (MTA's Trip Planner is a marvelous tool: http://tripplanner.mta.info/).

It did seem like a nice, albeit small beach...great sand and there wasn't any trash, however, it was very crowded both in the water and on the sand. Also, some of the people were extremely loud and a bit obnoxious.

The water was very calm--too calm for me. For swimming, I prefer waves and apparently the only beach with waves in NYC is Rockaway which I'm going to try next.

If you like calm water, lots of people, and don't mind noise, this beach is for you.

Remember to leave a little early so you don't get caught in the crowds trying to get on the buses and subways.

P.S. Just found a great site which goes into fantastic detail about NYC beaches: http://www.richardkostelanetz.com/exampl...
