I was recently diagnosed with a pleural effusion after diving. Can diving cause this. It was not a deep dive.?

I've searched all sources that I know of and have been unable to find any mention of SCUBA diving causing pleurisy or pleural effusion. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Check with the leading authority on medical safety and diving, D.A.N. Look under respiratory. They will know better than anyone what if it's safe for you to dive again and whether or not it's related:

I did a little research on this, and it looks like it can't be caused by diving. It says here that pleural effusion is caused by heart failure, kidney failure, low levels of albumin (which is a type of blood serum) in the blood, infections (TB, bacterial, fungal, viral), pulmonary embolism (artery blockage), and malignancies (which are tumors). If you were sick or recovering when you took the dive, that might have something to do with it. Why do you think the diving has anything to do with the pleural effusion?
