How do I tread water? |
I want to be able to swim in the deep end of my pool but I m too scared i will drown. I tried trading water before but i couldn't stay up. Am I doing something wrong or do I just need more practice? Treading water is more a matter of rowing with your arms and hands to keep your head constantly above water. It's very tiring. You can develop more confidence if you drownproof yourself. In this, you hang face down in the water, letting breath out gradually through your nose. When you need to inhale, sweep your arms down, kick your legs together, and raise your head back and out of the water. Inhale fully and droop back into the water again. After a while, it's very relaxing to just hang there. I had to do this for fifteen minutes to pass a swimming course and at the end I felt like, "Go away--come back in an hour." This works for nearly everyone, but there are a few with too little fat on their bodies to float naturally. Most of us will hang just at the surface, even in fresh water. constantly kick with your legs, and spread out your arms to either side, and wave them up and down. you could also try putting them sorta out in front of you and just pushing down. youll be able to do it in no time! The best way to thread water is to relax and do it gently. If you tense up you will sink. Take a good breath, let your face down and float and start threading water. Pretty you can keep your head up and breathe as you thread water. Practice this on the shallow end till you can float without fear, then you are ready for the deep end. Good luck This isnt an answer to your question, but I commend you on wanting to learn how to swim. I am TERRIFIED of deep water, you go girl. take swimming lessons. or practice treading water by the edge of the pool so u can hold on if you need to. you cant really do it wrong so i think you just need to practice. u just kick your legs and push down with your arms. this should work because this is how i do it and i can do it for hours without going under water. im a good swimmer and can tread water for ages! |
