play water polo, i am trying to make the JV team at my high school, so i am trying to train over the summer, any good exercises i can do, or things i can do to improve my strength,
*I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A GYM*
Lots of swimming and treading water should be good. Daily if possible. Work up the amount of time you can tread water for. do a lot of freestyle perhaps a kilometre to warm up ( 40 laps of a 25m pool), but also practice interval trainng for freestyle sprints. You want to develop speed over short distances, so you want to do plenty of short sharp sprints with both head up and head down depending on the situation. When you cant get to a pool, or want variety, normal upper body work like push ups and crunches/sit ups are good, along with normal aerobic activity like running and cycling. When fit, work on your accuracy by throwing a water polo ball with friends over various distances while treading water. On land, sit cross legged on the floor and throw a water polo ball against targets on your wall. have fun!! let me know how you go
