In addition to Sandcastle, there are three public wave pools in the Pittsburgh area operated by the county - in South Park (south of Pgh), Boyce Park (east of Pgh), and Settler's Cabin Park (west of Pgh). When initially built (~early '80s) these were quite the novelity.
