Swimming pool question here?

got a 18' X 48" above ground walmart swimming pool. I have found a spot in my yard to put it. I know I'm gonna kill the grass under it. Is there anyway to keep the ground underneath the pool from smelling bad when I take the pool down???

As mentioned, level the ground with a sand bed 1" thick. It would be best to go ahead and excavate the ground to this depth in the diameter of the pool with an extra 2" for a hard walled pool or 5" for a soft walled inflatable ring type. Spread the sand over the ground and level it off. You can also use some landscape edging to surround the area where the sand bed is to keep it in place and look more professional.

*EDIT*
No, there isn't any special chemical to put down to keep the ground from smelling. You can aerate it if you take the pool down and spread some gardening lime on it to kill the smell but don't let the kids or animals on the area until it's completely absorbed into the ground. your suppoused to put sand under the pool not the grass cover the ground with sand
Oh gosh! Don't tell me my yard is going to stink in the fall! I just bought that same pool from Wal-mart last week! I knew it would ruin the grass but was not aware there would be a smell!! What is the reason for that?
Try putting rocks under it, I buy bags and dump it out under before I set the pool out and it works very nicely!
