I can't float on my back anymore!?

okay, i love swimming and have been swimming since 3 years old. All of the sudden I can't float on my back anymore, its really annoying. I float on my back for about 10 seconds then my legs go down and sink. I'm not fat either so don't say that's the problem. Does anyone know why this is happening?

The key to floating on your back are 1) keep your lungs filled with air as much as possible. When your lungs are filled with air it acts almost like a small float. It keeps you afloat just a tad bit better. With this you won't sink at the chest level. 2) The answer to your problems, your butt is sinking. I've seen it tons of times in novice swimmers. While they are swimming backstroke, their butt sinks and the legs follow. So, thrust your hips up and try to get them out of the water as much as you can. Then keep your legs straight at the knees. Work on that and you will not sink at the legs. Source(s): NCAA Big 12 swimmer. Swim coach. USAT triathlete. blah blah blah. Just try what I said.
Actually, if you were fat you could float better. Buoyancy is your problem. And don't even get me started with respect issues.
I can't float. Neither can my dad. I sink like a rock. If your bones are denser than the water, you can't float. fat people can float well cause fat is less dense than water.
you lost your touch. It will come back sooner or later. don't worrie.
Most likely your body is now capable of putting on more muscle mass as you age. I had the exact thing happen to me as well. So the legs are usually the first to sink.
