Do you think this will work?

have u ever went swimming in a deep pool like around 10ft and u go down to the bottom of the deep end and ur ears start to pop because of the pressure? well i thought about that and i got an idea that if they pop b/c of the pressure of the water above and the walls then if i designed a swimming pool that gets larger at the bottom then at the top the water can spred out on the bottom then ur ears wont pop. do u think this will work?

Your ears will be squeezed by the pressure exerted by the weight of the water above you no matter how wide the pool. SCUBA divers learn to hold their nose and gently blow as they descend in the ocean to equalize the pressure inside their ears to the pressure from the water around them. If we have to do this in the ocean, which is a lot wider than your pool, you can see that changing the shape of the pools sides will not change the pressure due to depth.

Water exerts the same pressure because of it's weight in all directions. This is called hydrostatic pressure and it only changes in relation to depth in the water. Source(s): U.S. Navy Diving Manual
Nope. There's still the same amount of water pressure differential 10' down no matter how wide the pool is. The pressure is coming from the water above you, not the water around you.
Plus, you'd probably create more of a drowning hazard since it'd be harder to get out of the pool.
i agree with the above answer: the pressure won't stop and you will still have a popping noise in your ears. if you really want to do something about the popping, some earplugs are designed just to do that.
Your ears pop because of the weight of the water above you. No matter how much wider the pool at the bottom the weight of the water above you would still be the same, thus making your ears pop anyway! Sorry, good idea except it wouldn't work!
