I recently bought an above the ground pool.?

Do I need to start adding the chemicals before it is completely filled? Thanks

It depends on the water chemistry actually. However, you can go ahead and start adding in the cyanuric acid (Stabilizer) and the chlorine (dissolve the granules in a bucket of water first) if you purchased a Starter kit.

Everything else you will want to hold off on for right now. Once the pool is full you need to get a sample of the water down to your local pool store and have them test it for the following:
Total chlorine
Free chlorine
Combined chlorine
pH
Alkalinity
Hardness
Cyanuric acid
Total dissolved solids
Metals
Phosphates

Bring the results back and post them or feel free to send them to me at robandliz1992@yahoo.com and I'll walk you through the rest of the water balance.

If you add chemicals you don't need you can throw your water chemistry off and create a cloudy pool or one that's a haven for algae.

Please include the test results above as well as the chemicals you've added to the pool (name brands work but ingredients are better), chemicals you still have on hand (ingredients are best again), and the gallon size of the pool. Do not add the chemicals until the pool is filled.
after i bought mine i waited a few days then i tested the water and then added the chemicals and my pool is clear so i must have done something right lol gl2u
There really is no reason to add any chemicals at all until the pool is filled enough to allow filter circulation, and at that point the pool should be circulated and the water tested to see EXACTLY what you need so you don't wind up buying things you don't need. Also, adding chemicals to a non-circulating pool could cause more problems with chemicals not dissolving and just laying on the bottom of the liner. Some chemicals are corrosive to the vinyl liner. Good Luck!
