Can running hurt your swimming? |
I am on the swim team and am a top swimmer but im trying out for the cross country team. Will I be using different muscles that can hurt my swimming? Swimming is actually great cross-training for runners! Both sports are high cardio and low body-fat oriented so that's a plus. Running is more high impact but that won't affect you when you swim. Running will cause an increase in muscle mass but not to any extent that you should worry. If you add cycling to your activities you could be a triathlete!!! Good luck ( = Source(s): USA Swimming coach, USAT triathlete no i know people that have to run for swimming running is one of the best things for swimming, I know I swim year round but run cross country and track, alittle cross training helps all swimmers need to run I'd say No running shouldn't affect your swimming but swimming can help your running! Swimming is the best sport for your joint and your muscles and having a nice swim can help ease your joints after a run. ya my cross country team cross trains swimming |
