What are the warning signs of having swimmers ear?

i was camping and my ear hurts! ive been swimming. I was changing and my ear hurt so i put my finger in and some waxy yellow shXt came out and it hurts! When i put a q-tip its wet. HELP!

probably is swimmers ear. a doctor can give you drops. or after you swim you can put just a drop maybe two of alcohol in your ear to let it dry it up. not a lot or too often though because that won't be good for your ears either. Probably should start wearing ear plugs too
Signs and symptoms of swimmer's ear usually appear within a few days of exposure to contaminated water, and may include:

Severe pain on moving your outer ear (pinna, or auricle) or pushing on the little "bump" (tragus) in front of your ear.
Pain or discomfort in or around your ear. Usually only one ear is involved.
Itching of your outer ear.
Swelling in your ear or lymph nodes in your neck.

*****Treatment of swimmers depends on the severity of the infection and how much pain the child feels. For milder cases, your child's doctor may prescribe ear drops that contain antibiotics to fight the infection and a steroid to reduce swelling of the ear canal. Ear drops are usually given several times a day for 7 to 10 days.

If swelling of the ear canal makes it difficult to give the drops, your doctor may insert a cotton wick into the canal to help carry the medicine inside the ear. In some cases, the doctor may need to remove pus and debris from the ear with gentle cleaning or suction. This will allow the ear drops to work more effectively. For more severe infections, oral antibiotics may be given as well, and the doctor may order a culture of some of the discharge from the ear to help identify which bacteria or fungi are causing the infection.

Over-the-counter pain relievers can be used to manage any pain your child may feel. Once treatment has begun, you will start to feel better in a day or 2.

The primary symptom of swimmers ear is pain, which can be severe and gets worse when the earlobe or other exterior part of the ear is pulled or pressed on. It may also be painful for a person with swimmers ear to chew. Sometimes the ear canal itches before the pain begins.

Swelling of the ear canal may make you have an uncomfortable feeling in the ear. The outer ear may become reddened or swollen, and lymph nodes around the ear may become enlarged and tender. There may be some discharge from the ear canal as well; it may be clear at first but then turn cloudy, yellowish, and pus-like. Hearing may temporarily be affected if pus and debris or swelling of the canal blocks the passage of sound into the ear. Fever is not common.

Using over-the-counter drops of a dilute solution of acetic acid or alcohol in the ears after getting them wet can help prevent swimmers ear, especially if your child is prone to the infection. After spending time in the water, it is also a good idea for children to gently dry their ears with a towel and help water run out of their ears by turning their heads to the side. Speak with your child's doctor before using earplugs.
Maybe you ought to go to a doctor. Do you have any fever?
