Do i have to keep the pump to my pool running at all times?

You don't need to have your pool pump run 24/7.

Most pool pumps will circulate all of the water once every 8 hours. As long as the disinfectant level (chlorine is the most common disinfectant) remains at the recommended concentration, you can comfortably run the pump only during the daylight hours.

If the disinfectant level remains correct, then see if you can reduce the number of hours you run your pump. Of course, if the disinfectant level drops, you'll need to extend the hours you run the pump.

In addition, you might want to contact the builder or the retail seller for a recommendation about how to care for your pool. If those sources are unknown or of no help, contact a local pool chemical supply company or pool service for advice. You might need to determine the volume of water if you need the help of a chemical supply company. They should be able to help you with the math to figure the gallons your pool holds.

If you bring a sample (about a liter) of your pool water to a chemical supply store, they should be able to analyze the water and tell you exactly what you need to add to the water to balance it properly.
one my pool we do Because last you we got algie and had to by a new pool but if there are no trees close to it all all then you could turn it off at night and back on in the morning
assuming your pump and other equipment (filter, pipe diameter) is sized correctly for your pool, some folks suggest 1 hr of run time for 10 degree farenheit of air temp. so if it is 80 degrees during the day run it 8 hrs during the day. a pool professional could look at your pump h.p s.f (service factor) impeller, filter type & Size, number of skimmers, pipe size, and number of bends etc, number of skimmers, and give you a better estimate.
