How do you find a small leak in a 15' swimming pool. vinyl material.?

my pool is 15' x 32" and i can't find any kind of leaks. In a 24hr. period the pool loses about a foot of water.

If you're losing a foot in 24 hours, that's no small leak. It's either a large hole in the liner or a plumbing line, probably the return. You are going to have to eyeball it. It'll be pretty obvious if it's a hole in the liner. Start to look at the level to where it's previously dropped and below. It won't be above that level.
You don't mention if this is an inground or above ground, which would be helpful. If it's an inground, there may be an issue with a return line that's been split or holed. It won't be obvious unless the grass is much greener in an area next to the deck or your concrete deck sounds hollow underneath and the only way to find out for sure is to have a pressure test done which will also tell you within 6 inches or so, where exactly the line leak is.
It could also be the multiport gasket on the filter if this is a sand filter, most especially if your backwash line is buried. If it is buried, go to where it comes out of the ground and have a peek. See water? It's the gasket and needs replacing, perhaps even the entire multiport if this is a heated pool and the heater wasn't shut down 20 minutes prior to the filter pump being shut off. Heat builds in the pipes and can deform the multiport making it useless.
Those are the typical culprits. If you have a pool light it could also be a siphon effect of water heading up the electrical conduit, I've seen that before.
If it's an above ground, check under the skimmer and all the plumbing lines, they should all be open for inspection.
As for the dye that the previous poster mentioned. All it does is test a suspect area. You have to find that area in the vinyl first. If the spot is indeed leaking, it will draw the dye in. If it isn't leaking, it won't. You can actually use food colouring and even an old expired bottle of phenol red (your pH test reagent) instead of that over priced leak dye. There's something you can buy to put in
the water so it will make a mark as it
leaks out.
I don't know the name, but someone at
a pool supply outlet, will.
