Why is Andy Roddick such a prick?

okay i recently watched videos of andy roddick being a total ***** to his opponents and the empire;for example after he hit a great shot at the net in the aussie open first round against tosanga he looked at tosanga(while tosanga was heading to the baseline) and yelled a whole bunch of crap behind his back. Apparently he thinks he is the best player there is anyone else know why he is such a prick.

You are confusing "trash talking" with rudeness and they really aren't the same thing. The same kind of thing goes on prevalently in almost all sports (just watch a baskeball game sometimes). And many other tennis players do that during a match, but it often has very little to do with the players actual personality or how they are perceived in the locker room. In fact, Andy Roddick is one of the most well liked guys on the tour according to the other players (as opposed to Lleyton Hewitt who is one of the least liked).

But getting back to the question, its a competitive, macho thing that some guys do when they play just to get into their opponents head. Roddick usually doesn't do it unless he is facing an athlete that he has some history with (from previous matches or from his junior days). And often the same type of response is returned. I realize It's probably hard to understand for someone who doesn't compete in professional sports. Andy Roddick has a very typical "American" playing style and personality when it comes to competition. But he is smart enough never to cross the line. He is actually one of the most fair and humerous players out there. He's a personality and he wants to be that kind of personality for the kind of people that appreciate it, that's all.

He does berate the umpires sometimes (many players do) but usually not unjustly and doesn't go overboard like MacEnroe did. He also tends to make light of things on the court that seem like the would bother him. Like the time he argued with a Wimbledon umpire about a line call. The umpire then challenged Roddick about how he could have seen the ball from his position on the court. Roddick's response was "because I'm lying and you caught me!" drawing laughter from everyone in the stands including the umpire. So he's really not a bad guy, he's just trying to be a bit of a character out there so people remember him. He is more known for his personality and serve than he is for his tennis accomplishments and unless he wins the US Open again or Wimbledon once or twice, that's pretty much what he will be remembered for.
No fair...I asked the same question about Carlos Ruiz and someone reported me, my question was deleted, and I lost 10 points. Actually, i think I used the word ****, so maybe that was the reason.
Your just jealous of the fastest serve in the world!!
he's not the only player to get in someone's face like that, have u watched Serena Williams?
The overload in his name, rod and dick.
insecure of he great acer?
.... yeah because Andy Roddick is the only player ever in history to do that right? (rolls eyes)
