Tennis problems!!! please help!!? |
i like to play tennis alot. Theres only 1 problem. The problem is that when ever i hit the ball my right wrist hurts (im right handed). Should i buy a new racket or somthing else? no, i had this problem as well. I use alot of wrist action in my shot, so my wrist jerks alot when i hit it. If your wrist hurts severely you should take about a week off then come back, however if you can still play on it just try to tweak your stroke a little bit. that should help I think you should go visit a docotor or ask a coach. People wont know the full answer get a doctor to check your wrist You might grip the racquet a different way. For forehands, start off with a loose grip, and tighten it up as you get closer to hitting the ball and then losen on the followthrough. Try playing tennis until your wrist hurts and then stop. Do this to build up strength in your wrist without risking severe wrist damage. Are you flicking your wrist every time u hit or are you holding the racket the wrong way? If the answer to your problem answers one of these questions change your grip and swing through the ball instead of flicking. If it's not one of these answers, ask your coach/doctor for assisstance. Don't get a new racket unless your coach/(maybe doctor) says it's too heavy for you. Before you by a new racket, spend the money by having a pro look at your swing. Most likely, it's your technique that's causing your wrist pain. Remember to ice it after playing to reduce any inflammation (could you have tendonitis of the wrist?) and take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds like Ibuprofin if you're still in pain. Good luck. you have probably injured it. try icing it or go to a doctor. i had a problem similar to this and my doctor said it was from playing too much. take a break for a while |
