How can i make a good serve? |
i have been in tennis lessons for about a couple weeks (dont really think i need it, except for my crappy serve) ,and they didnt tell us how to do it. ok. i take private lessons and here are some tips my coach tells me because im not the best either. when you throw the ball, "pop it." in other words dont throw it, when you go to release the ball pretend your poping it with your palm. for practicing just pop the ball and if you do it right when the ball comes down it should return to your hand. keep practicing. another tip is dont move your feet! pplant them on the floor and an accoasional jump is ok though. when you normally hit the ball in a forehand or backhand, your wrist should remain "loaded" and doesnt move but in a serve when you go you hit the ball move your wrist. like your hitting it down. move your wrist from "loaded" to the opposite of loaded or 180 degrees away from it. when you are tossing the ball in the air, make sure your racket is on your back and put it like as if your scratching your back with it. that helps. there is a few i hope it helps. =] good luck. and just have fun with it. you have to keep practicing its all about the accuracy.you should make a target and keep hitting it Eat bananas like serena Williams and close your eyes when you hit the ball.Maybe its an ace the best way to start is practice a few tosses in the air without hitting the ball and make the ball land at around maybe 1PM on a clock if ur right handed or 11 o clock if ur left handed. A good way to practice is to place ur racket on the ground parrarel to ur feet and make the ball land on the sweet spot of the head of the racket. You want a high toss and you want your body to fall towards your target. Also when you toss, don't move your elbows/other parts of arm as this will create a weak toss. You want to lock your elbow and sort of open your hands like a flower blossoming to get the ball straight up. You want to snap your wrist when you hit the ball or else the ball will fly really far and high. I've stuggled on my serve but b/c of this teqchnique i got my serve real nicely. Hope this works and good luck!!! I used to worry about that too but then i found this http://www.wikihow.com/serve-a-tennis-ba... hope it helps It all depends on your skill level and whether you are interested in competitions. If you are starting off, I would recommend learning a slice serve, where the grip is changed much more than a regular flat serve. You would hold it as if you were holding a frying pan only a little bit angled. When you serve, aim more to the right. If you are left handed, do the opposite. Good luck! I've played tennis for many years. |
